Sorbitan Olivate

Sorbitan Olivate is an olive-derived emulsifying ingredient that helps oil- and water-based components come together into a smooth, uniform formula. It works alongside Cetearyl Olivate as part of a biomimetic emulsifying system designed to form organized lamellar structures inspired by the skin’s natural lipid organization.

Ingredient PROFILE

WHY YOUR SKIN LOVES IT

Sorbitan Olivate contributes to a creamy, comfortable texture while helping support a moisturized skin feel. Within its emulsifying system, it contributes to lamellar liquid-crystal structures that resemble aspects of the organization of the stratum corneum, where ceramides are naturally found as an important part of the skin’s lipid matrix.

WHERE IT COMES FROM

The Sorbitan Olivate we use comes to us as part of an olive-derived emulsifying system made with fatty-acid-based components. This system was specifically developed to provide both effective emulsification and skin-compatible sensory and moisturizing properties.

HOW IT’S THOUGHTFULLY MADE

Cetearyl Olivate is part of a PEG-free, COSMOS-validated emulsifying system designed to create skin-inspired lamellar structures. The complete system has also been clinically evaluated for microbiome compatibility, with supplier testing showing preservation of the skin microbiota’s composition and biodiversity.

WHY IT MATTERS

We chose a raw material containing Sorbitan Olivate because it helps us build a formula that considers both the ingredients we deliver and the structure surrounding them. In a formula containing Ceramide NP and Ceramide NG, the emulsifying system’s ability to create skin-inspired lamellar structures provides a particularly thoughtful complement to the ceramides. The result is an approach centered on skin-barrier lipids, moisturization, skin comfort and an elegant sensory experience.
