Cetearyl Olivate

Cetearyl Olivate is an olive-derived emulsifying ingredient that helps bring the oil- and water-based components of a formula together while contributing to a smooth, comfortable skin feel. It is part of a biomimetic emulsifying system designed to form organized structures inspired by the lipid arrangement of the skin’s outermost layer.

Ingredient PROFILE

WHY YOUR SKIN LOVES IT

Cetearyl Olivate helps create creamy, elegant textures that spread smoothly and leave skin feeling soft and moisturized. As part of its emulsifying system, it helps form lamellar liquid-crystal structures, which resemble aspects of the organized lipid structure of the stratum corneum—the same outermost layer where ceramides naturally play an important role in the skin barrier.

WHERE IT COMES FROM

The Cetearyl Olivate we use comes to us as part of an olive-derived emulsifying system made with fatty-acid-based components. The system was developed with a composition and structure designed to interact compatibly with the skin’s surface.

HOW IT’S THOUGHTFULLY MADE

Cetearyl Olivate is part of a PEG-free, COSMOS-validated emulsifying system designed to create skin-inspired lamellar structures. The complete system has also been clinically evaluated for microbiome compatibility, with supplier testing showing preservation of the skin microbiota’s composition and biodiversity.

WHY IT MATTERS

We chose a raw material containing Cetearyl Olivate because its role goes beyond creating a stable, beautiful texture. Its ability to help form skin-inspired lamellar structures is particularly relevant in a formula containing Ceramide NP and Ceramide NG, creating an organized, barrier-conscious formulation environment alongside these ceramides. Together, these ingredients allow us to approach the formula from multiple angles—incorporating ceramides while also thoughtfully considering the structure, moisturization and skin feel of the overall formula.
